SERVICES OFFERED
FOR INDIVIDUALS SEEKING THERAPY
I specialize in helping individuals who suffer from PTSD and C-PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, or are suffering from life losses.
These symptoms are often rooted in trauma, loss and other events that limit our ability to process emotionally difficult information.
Difficult or traumatic memories that become blocked force us to relive these feelings and events over and over as if they are still happening today. You do not have to keep suffering. There is a way out.
My counseling style is calming, collaborative, and compassionate. We work together to find the path to success that works best for you. I provide a relaxed environment in therapy where you are safe and accepted. I bring tools and strategies to help you get where you want to be. You bring your expertise on you and willingness to do the life work between sessions.
It is my honor to share this important time in your life. Please contact me by phone at 989-407-0963 or or email (ReneeWells@Protonmail.com) to schedule a free consultation or schedule your first appointment. I look forward to meeting you and beginning your path to the life you've always wanted!
FOR LPC CANDIDATES SEEKING SUPERVISION IN MICHIGAN
I believe it is very important to find the right person when seeking a potential supervisor. If you are considering me as a potential supervisor, please read the synopsis below and feel free to email me with any additional questions (ReneeWells@Protonmail.com).
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Board Certified and Licensed Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with over 25 years of professional experience in the mental health field.
I have an extensive background and am professionally trained in level 1 and 2 EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and many other evidence based approaches
I have worked extensively with individuals (both children and adults) with autism, advanced acute and chronic medical conditions, as well as individuals with IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities). I have a professional background and former advanced certification in substance abuse counseling. I have a many years of experience and advanced training working with people who have suffered losses and trauma.
My specialty is helping individuals that are dealing with the effects of trauma and loss. This focus has been a passion throughout my career from the very start. I began my career with the treatment of children with a history of physical and sexual abuse who were residing in an inpatient setting. My draw toward this specialty deepened during my many years working within the foster care system. I spent my early years gaining the experience in residential facilities, inpatient hospitalization, substance abuse treatment centers, anger management and other focused therapy groups to gain insight into all sides of the human experience. I have spent the rest of my career honing my skills and continuing as a life long learner. I find working with survivors of trauma to be incredibly rewarding work that touches individuals from every population we serve.
As a supervisor, I feel my best qualities are my years of varied professional experience and my passion for this field and the people we serve. Professional burnout is a risk to which many therapists, new and experienced are highly susceptible. I offer tools and strategies to stay passionate about this challenging work and to become a highly effective therapist who loves what they do their entire career.
As a supervisor I am just as passionate about helping future licensed therapists become all they can be in this increasingly needed and important field. To begin the process of supervision, please email or call to set up a consultation. You may also use the scheduling widget on this site to schedule a consultation. This will be an opportunity to discuss any questions you may have and to find out if we are a good fit. Please indicate that you are an LPC candidate in your communication.
FOR INDIVIDUALS SEEKING BCBA CERTIFICATION
As a BCBA, we bring many aspects of ourselves into our work, including professional history. Please read my "Bio" above for an introduction to my background.
While studying for the exam, I developed a treatment plan utilizing my own specific learning style that identified my areas of strength and weakness regarding the material. This content was heavily focused on ethics which kept me on my toes in the field, and helped me to deepen my understanding of the most challenging part of the exam. You may hear a lot about the difficulty of the exam. But the exam is not difficult if you are prepared properly. I will help you get there and be with you every step of the way.
Most of my experience has been fieldwork in rural areas, which is a challenge all on it's own. I was the first home based behavior analyst in a rural county which required that I train all new staff and put programs in place in client homes, with multiple obstacles. I will share my paths to success while walking beside you to your success.
